About the creator

Paul Snider

Paul Snider is an actor / musician / song-writer. After graduating with a Joint Honours Music and Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo, he wrote software for computer companies while pursuing his performance career in theatre. In 1997 he moved to Vancouver with a software start-up company and helped build it to one of the fastest growing technology companies in BC, Paul being named one of “Business In Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40”. In 2009 he departed the software industry completely to work fulltime on his entertainment projects. He wrote a sung-through musical called The Curtain, a love story between an East Berlin woman and an American man during the fall of the Berlin Wall. He wrote, produced, directed, scored and starred in his feature film Everywhere But Here and his short film The Walk, both of which were selected for film festivals, the latter winning multiple awards and having screened in Los Angeles, Winnipeg, Toronto, Vancouver and New York. As a working actor, Paul has appeared in over 85 film and theatre projects through his entertainment career. More recently, his short film Solo Duet which he produced, wrote, and starred in, graced many film festivals throughout the world. His follow-up and latest short film Solo Duet: Who's On First is currently in the film festival circuit.

Paul experimented with creating music from different sounds when he produced a rendition of ‘O Canada’ using only Canadian animal sounds during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, and later produced a unique music video using only sounds he recorded on a backpacking trip through Eastern Europe. Extending this concept, Paul created a new musical Junk! The Musical which was performed by his orchestra of original instruments made from recycled junk. It debuted at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, September 2014. The remounting of this show was called The Music of Junk and has performed at such theatres as The Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island in Vancouver, The 1,260-seat Massey Theatre in New Westminster, BC, the Telus World of Science, the 800-seat Charles Bailey Theatre in Trail, BC, and at The ACT Arts Centre in Maple Ridge, BC. In 2018 Paul released his folk rock album The Letter, now available on many streaming services. His newest music theatre project Orchestra of Sound premieres at the Vancouver Fringe Festival in September 2023.

Paul is also the builder of the Street Beats' Wall of Sound built from found objects and recycled materials, which was installed at various locations in Vancouver, BC.
